Product Update — Week of March 1, 2026
Picture this: you need to put together a recap of your latest marketing campaign. Your performance data lives in Google Sheets. Your report draft is in a Word file. Your creative inventory is in a CSV somewhere else. And every time you want AI to help, you're stuck doing the same tedious loop — copy from the file, paste into the chat, get an answer, copy the answer back into the file.
Wouldn't it be better if AI could just open the file and work in it directly?
That question is what led us to build Artifacts.
Introducing Fast Ads Artifacts
Artifacts lets AI read and edit your actual files — not a copy-pasted version of them, but the real thing.
Supported file types:
Google Sheets (just paste the URL)
Microsoft Office — Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx)
CSV, TXT, and Markdown files
Now when you say "summarize Q3 performance from this spreadsheet", AI opens it and does the work. When you say "add this data to my report draft", AI edits the actual file.
What's new in this release:
AI reads Google Sheets directly from a URL
Full support for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files
CSV, TXT, and Markdown file handling
Targeted edits — only the relevant section gets touched, not the whole document
One-click Undo if you don't like the result
How It Works
The way Artifacts handles documents is closer to how a person would read them than how most software does. Rather than loading the entire file every time, AI first gets a sense of the overall structure, then zooms into the relevant section.
So if you ask "update just the April campaign results section", AI locates that section specifically and edits it — without touching anything else. This makes edits faster and significantly reduces the chance of unintended changes.
Design Decisions Worth Explaining
Undo
AI edits don't always land exactly the way you intended. That's fine — every edit made through Artifacts is reversible. After any change, you'll see:
"I've updated this document. Take a look."
One click brings it back to exactly how it was. The original is always preserved.
Write conflict prevention
Here's a tricky scenario: AI reads your document, then someone else edits it before AI writes its changes. If AI pushes its version anyway, the newer edits get overwritten.
To prevent this, Artifacts checks the file's current state immediately before writing — not just when it first reads. If anything has changed in between, it pauses and lets you know instead of blindly overwriting.
Why spreadsheets first?
We couldn't build support for every file type simultaneously and do it well. So we prioritized:
Spreadsheets (Google Sheets / Excel)
Presentations
Word documents
Spreadsheets were the obvious starting point because they're where most marketing work actually lives — performance data, campaign reports, budget tracking. That's where we could add the most immediate value.
What You Can Do Right Now
Paste a Google Sheets URL and ask: "Compare CTR by ad channel for last month"
Drag in an Excel file and say: "Add a performance section with today's numbers"
Hand AI a CSV and ask: "Remove outliers, sort by channel, and save it"
If the result isn't right, just say "undo that" — it's one step back
What's Coming Next
This release is the foundation. Here's what we're building toward:
Google Slides and Docs read/write support
Full Word document read and write
Multi-file conversations — reference multiple files at once
Live editing view for Markdown documents
Try it out and let us know what you think. Your feedback is what shapes what we build next.

FAQ
What exactly is Artifacts?
Artifacts is the feature that lets AI work directly inside your files. The old workflow looked like this:
File → Copy → Paste into AI → Copy answer → Paste back into file
With Artifacts, it's just:
File → Ask AI → AI reads and edits directly
It's the difference between AI as a chat assistant and AI as a collaborator that works in your actual documents.
